Air Compressors

Compressors can introduce cyclic torque and vibration that deserve more attention than a static shaft-size match. State the compressor type and the real operating duty so the coupling is reviewed in context.
What changes the coupling decision
| Item | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Compressor type | Reciprocating, screw or other type; include the drive arrangement. |
| Speed / power | Normal speed and motor or driver data. |
| Duty cycle | Starts, unload/reload behaviour and any repeated shock. |
| Alignment | Expected installation and maintenance alignment condition. |
Where NM is a practical starting point
NM flexible couplings are a useful starting point when the project calls for a compact hub-and-elastomer layout and the shaft sizes fall inside an available model range. The final choice still needs to respect the real speed and duty. If the application calls for a different coupling principle, the related-product range provides alternatives for review.
Prepare the RFQ before selecting by eye
Send the driver and driven-equipment information together. This avoids a common purchasing mistake: choosing a coupling because its outside diameter resembles the existing part while the bore, hub length or operating duty is different.
Request a Coupling Review
Send the shaft sizes, speed, duty and quantity. We will review the model and machining details before quotation.
