For a replacement coupling, \u201csame as the old one\u201d is not a dimension. Measure the shaft or use the equipment drawing. Do this on both sides; motor and driven shafts are often different.<\/p>\n

Keyway width and depth<\/td>\nUse the shaft drawing where possible. If measured, state that the values are field measurements.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Hub length available<\/td>\nCheck shoulders, seals, guards and nearby equipment.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shaft end position<\/td>\nNote how far the shaft enters the hub and any axial gap requirement.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Setscrew or locking detail<\/td>\nPhotograph and dimension it if the replacement must match an existing arrangement.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

Why a photo is not enough<\/h2>\n

Perspective can make a 28 mm and 30 mm bore look identical, and an assembled guard can hide the hub length. Photos are excellent for identifying construction and damage; dimensions are what make the part fit.<\/p>\n
